OUR BASE OF

INGENUITY

WHERE WE COME FROM

When, in 1848, Carl Ritter von Ghega started construction work on the world‘s first standard gauge mountain railway line, the Semmeringbahn, he not only revolutionised railtrack, tunnel and bridge construction, HE initialised a new era in locomotive engineering. His ingenuity and determination lead to the development of the most advanced steam engines of the time, vital for mastering the extreme gradients and curvature radiuses of the new line.

Fully operational to the present day, the trackbed and viaduct foundations of the Semmeringbahn have proved stable for over 160 years. Today, Strategic foresight, interdisciplinary creativity and state-of-the-art engineering skills are the foundations of ingenuity for the Platzer Rail Holding and its operational unit TecSol, located in the heartland of Austrian rail technology, the Greater Semmering Region.
